Chemical Peels

This is a method to rejuvenate the appearance, texture and glow of the skin. It is especially effective at improving the fine wrinkles on the lower eyelid, around the lip or on the back of the hand. They are also useful for treating pigmentation changes which occur with ageing and cleaning clogged pores. Tri-chloro-acetic acid (TCA) or fruit acids are the most commonly used chemical agents. The peels come in various strengths and treatments are individualised. Each treatment course should ideally be four to six weeks apart. Depending on the type, strength and the area being treated, peels can be performed as an outpatient procedure. For more intense treatments, a general anaesthetic and an overnight stay may be necessary.
