Laser Hair Removal

Lasers are an effective way of removing unwanted hair. Sessions last between five minutes to one hour depending on the size of area needing treatment. This treatment is most suitable for darker hair. However, particular care must be used for patients with dark skin because this absorbs a greater amount of laser energy which can lead to side effects. Laser hair removal should be seen as a form of hair control requiring three to four treatments per year after the first treatment. It is not a method for permanent hair removal. In sensitive areas, like the upper lip, a local anaesthetic cream may be applied. To supplement the treatment, aloe-vera gel is applied to the skin for a cooling effect. Normal facial care and cosmetic use can usually be commenced after twelve hours.
