Male Breast Reduction
Some men experience enlargement of their breasts. This is called gynaecomastia and it is
the cause of untold misery for many men. This breast surgery for gynaecomastia removes
excess fat and breast tissue from the area behind the nipple. In some cases it is also
necessary to remove excess skin. If the cause of the enlargement is mainly fat, then
liposuction is used to reshape the chest. If the enlargement is predominantly due to
breast tissue then this is removed by direct excision through a scar placed around
the nipple. A combination of techniques is usually needed to give you the best result.
The operation requires a general anaesthetic and usually an overnight stay in hospital.
