Calf Implants
Many individuals have disproportionately small calf muscles despite regular
exercise. In this situation calf implants can improve the size of calf muscles
and produce attractive and shapely legs. In this procedure an incision is made
behind the knee in an existing skin crease through which a calf implant is inserted
to sit on top of the existing calf muscle. Calf implants are firmer in texture than
breast implants and come in a variety of sizes depending on the requirements of the
individual. Occasionally this procedure may be combined with other cosmetic operations
such as liposuction or thigh lifts to improve overall leg shape. Calf implant surgery
requires a general anaesthetic either as a day case or overnight stay.
