Face Lift
As we age our skin loses its elasticity, it becomes thinner and the muscles slacken.
This causes unsightly folds of skin and wrinkles to appear on our faces. The corner of
the mouth can also droop and the jaw may sag forming ‘jowls’. Excess folds of skin may
appear under the chin and on the neck. All of these changes can be accelerated by excessive
exposure to sunlight, smoking or massive weight loss. A face lift tightens the facial
skin and underlying muscles using an incision hidden around the ear. The main effect of
the face lift is to redefine the contour of the jaw line and neck. The skin on the cheek
is tightened in the process giving you a smoother, fresher and more youthful appearance.
Often, face lifts are carried out in combination with a blepharoplasty procedure or brow
lift to rejuvenate the whole face. A face lift requires a general anaesthetic and an
overnight stay in hospital.
