Mole Removal
Moles (also known as a "naevi") are a common skin blemish which affects men and women equally. Most are harmless (benign) but they can be a cause of extreme unhappiness because of their size, colour, shape or position on the body. For example, raised moles may catch on clothing or may be cut when shaving. Alternatively, they may be very obvious and unsightly if they are dark, speckled or hairy. Removing the moles is relatively simple in most cases. Depending on the position of the moles, the number which need to be removed and your particular preference treatment can be carried out under local or general anaesthesia. A local anaesthetic is sufficient in most cases. A variety of techniques can be used and these can be discussed in greater detail during your consultation. However, it is important to know that whatever technique is used it will leave a permanent mark on the skin (i.e. a scar). The scar is usually inconspicuous but it is not possible to remove the mole without leaving a scar.
