I beat teen obesity

Nearly two million children are overweight and 700,000 of them are obese. Former junk food addict Tia Patel, who was 16 stone at 18, tells ANASTASIA STEPHENS how she fought back.
IF ONLY I could convey just how passionately I feel about obesity – that it’s something you don’t have to live with but a condition that can be overcome. Not just that but that all overweight teenagers can turn their lives around.
But to do it, you need to be determined and use everything you’ve got – nutrition, exercise and even surgery. I’ve had liposuction twice to remove areas of stagnant fat, as well as a bodylift to remove large areas of excess skin, a side effect of losing eight stone. And this is coming from someone who, up until my early 20s, didn’t know what feeling slim, fit or attractive was like. Having been allowed anything I wanted from my parent’s convenience store, I’d always been a fatty.
