A FIFTH OF WOMEN WANT VAGINA SURGERY
New research shows that 1 in 5, or 22% of women would like to undergo surgery on their vagina, and 28% would like to have buttock implants.
27% of women claim that TV programmes focusing on cosmetic surgery ‘pressure’ them to maintain a ‘designer’ appearance. The research shows that of the 28% of women that would undergo buttock implants, 62% admit to wanting the procedure conducted so they can achieve the ‘celebrity figure.’
The study shows that younger women are more likely to undergo a cosmetic procedure on their vagina, with 26% of women aged between 21 and 30 saying they would undergo a cosmetic procedure on their vagina, compared to 18% of women over 40.
THE ARRAY OF USES FOR BOTOX
BOTOX has been the most popular nonsurgical cosmetic procedure for many years and in 2009 there were about 2.5 million procedures done in the U.S., according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
BOTOX is derived from a protein made by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. The protein is toxic and causes botulism when ingested in large amounts. Botulism paralyzes all the body’s muscles, including the heart muscle, causing death. However, BOTOX uses tiny amounts and the injections are done to specific muscles. The effect is then to temporarily paralyze the injected muscle for a desired cosmetic improvement.
Cosmetic Uses
The most common reason BOTOX is used cosmetically is to smooth out frown lines and horizontal forehead lines. It can also be used to treat crows’ feet, the laugh lines at the outside edge of each eye, and fine lines around the lips.
The presence in a muscle of the BOTOX protein blocks messages from the brain telling it to contract. When the muscle stops contracting, the facial expressions it contributes to are stopped or partly stopped (frowning, scowling, raised eyebrows etc.). The skin is then able to smooth out and give you a younger, fresher look.

An American study by Dr. Jill L. Hessler found that patients older than 53 were more satisfied with their results than younger people, perhaps because older patients are more realistic, the study authors suggested. In addition, people who were being treated for depression tended to report more satisfaction than those who were not undergoing treatment for depression.
It’s another example of why people thinking of having a procedure should thoroughly research what the operation involves.
